The last step in the whole journey is to get the Repairman Certificate. As the original builder of the plane (the manufacturer) the FAA offers a certificate for allowing builders to legally perform annual condition inspections for continued airworthiness.
To get the Repairman Certificate, you need to fill out the FAA form 8610-3 (PDF found at bottom of page).
NOTE: The EAA guide for certification states you need to fill out 81610-2, I’ve linked the correct 8610-3 form above.
If the an Inspector from the FSDO is doing the inspection (not a DAR) this form can be submitted prior to the inspection and the Inspector can issue this certificate at the same time, otherwise a separate appointment with your local FSDO will need to be made.
